6 MAIN RESEARCH CLUSTER

KMITL focuses on different themes of research

King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) focuses on different themes of research, especially in the fields of Engineering and Science & Technology. Our research responds to the needs of the Society, Thailand 4.0 and Education 4.0.The main group of research (Research Cluster) is separated into the following 6 groups.

1. Alternative Energy & Environment

Emphasis on research that is consistent with the national energy promotion and development plan to respond to and solve the main problems of secure energy sources and the environment. To promote the energy industry and reduce dependence on expensive technology from foreign countries, build the stability of electrical systems, get the most value from investment, and create benefits for farmers and communities, avoiding environmental impacts. Developing sources of raw materials that do not compete with plants and food, such as research to develop renewable energy sources. Developing sources of raw materials for energy or fuel production, including solar energy, wind power, small-size hydropower, biomass, biogas, waste, including energy-related materials (chemical energy, pressurized gas, nuclear energy, pyrotechnic compositions, propellants). Research and development for electric vehicle part production, research and development for aircraft use. Increase the stability of electrical systems and get the most out of the investment by studying the implementation of smart grid systems or other related fields. Research & development of new knowledge & innovation related to climate change and disaster management. Research related to solving various environmental problems such as air, water or land pollution. The wrong use of resources and characteristics as well as the problem of deteriorating sources. Problems related to misplaced settlements and communities, and problems from too much waste, waste reduction. Reuse and the conservation of natural resources and the environment, water management, renewable energy, smart grids, climate change, biodiversity, green business, natural resource management, carbon credit, urban design for the environment or other related topics. Jewels, jewelry, architecture, design, movies, printing, acting, music, creative economy, cultural business, tourism, lifestyle products, History and Archeology, Language and Literature, Philosophy, Ethics and Religion, and other Arts and Humanities.

2. Arts & Creative Media

Research that focuses on the study of cultural heritage and natural resources, performances and celebrations, books and press, audiovisuals and digital media. To be a model of or capable of pioneering science that creates aesthetic values and benefits that are recognized in the creative arts profession, including the creation of products that solve problems. Demands in the national and international economic system, including research with the objective of creating guidelines, processes, prototyping, creating artistic work as a knowledge base for a design or practical art that is useful for society.

3. Biomedical & Life Sciences

Emphasize on creating a strong research group by using modern complex technology with a standardized production process with high efficiency to study both basic and practical research development that integrates knowledge of various sciences such as electrical, computer, mechanical, electronics, nanotechnology, material science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, environmental and natural science, medicine, biochemistry, pharmacy, radiology, medical technology, and information technology, etc. in order to use knowledge to develop or create software tools or medical tools. Innovation in the treatment of biological and pharmaceutical products related to health in order to solve the public health problems of the country and develop a research group with expertise and excellence in modern and advanced medical technology. The goal is to create talent for national security, preventive health care, and improved treatment. Develop and increase the quality of medical equipment and supplies, social welfare, life of people in society including the elderly, the disadvantaged and the disabled.
